15 US Government Experiments (Some Of Which They’re Testing Right Now)

The US Government is known for it’s shady practices. Whether it be through the NSA, or any natural disasters, there will always be a conspiracy theory surrounding them. You may write these people off as just psychos looking for attention, but after you read some of the disturbing stuff the US government has conducted in the past, you may start to see their way of thinking.

The US is no exception to the many disturbing things that happened in the early 1900’s through to the cold war. Many things were still being learned, and technology was nowhere near what it was today. That means the government had an easier time keeping these experiments off the record. However, as time goes on, and technology becomes more advanced, many of these hidden practices are now being surfaced, and the US government isn’t what most people thought it was.

The morality of most governments is skewed, but for a country that prides itself for being the land of the free, there were a lot of strange things happening to people without their consent, and being hidden from the public. You may think things were different back then, but if these things came out back then nobody would agree with them. See for yourself…

15. MKUltra

via: popsugar-assets.com

In the 1950’s the US was scrutinized by the public for running illegal operations under the codename “MKUltra”. MKUltra was a log of experiments done on random people, even children, in which they’d test new drugs in order to see if they’d be helpful for human torture. The main idea behind MKUltra was to break down the mind, so scientists can control it.

The use of these mind control substances include LSD, hypnosis, and other sinister tactics. A lot of these experiments were done without the test subject’s consent, and often left them with permanent damage to their brain. Some cases even left the subjects unconscious or dead… MKUltra was run by the CIA in conjunction with the US Military Chemical Corporation.

14. Mustard Gas Testing

Via: MPR News

WWII was filled with a lot of secret things from the governments of many different countries, especially the US. Among these secret things was a mustard gas testing that was secretly being performed on soldiers of the US military. Many years after the experiments reminded a secret until 1990 when Congress finally began to investigate the claims.

It’s said that some of the test subjects were chose by race, to see if the experiments took different effects with different races. Records were kept on the down low, so it’s hard to know exactly how many soldiers “volunteered” to be subjected to these tests. Many of the veterans during the time were suffering from cancer, and heart issues, and little did they know it was due to the long exposure to the mustard gas.

13. Dangerous Chem Trails Over Regular Citizens

It was recently discovered that the US government along with the Navy, and the CIA have been simulating the effects of biochemical warfare, on different cities in the US. A case that took place in 1950 claims that the US sprayed bacterial pathogens all over the large city of San Francisco. The effect of this was that many citizens obtained pneumonia, resulting in the death of someone.

Another instance of this happened in 1955 when the CIA sprayed the whooping cough disease around Tampa Bay Florida. Many people became sick because of this, resulting in 12 people dying. Many claims were supporting the fact that the CIA was present, but other people say it was simply a propaganda piece supported by the church of Scientology.

12. Guatemalan STD Testing

via: slate.com

The US admitted in 2010 that they were conducting experiments on Guatemalans in the 1940’s. These experiments included infecting the patients with STDs like syphilis. Originally the US used prostitutes to infect the patients which included; soldiers, prisoners, and even inmates at insane asylums.

Later they began to cut out the middle man, and directly infect the test subjects with the viruses. A quote from the lawyers representing those affected by these experiments said:

“They kept a lid on it, making sure that nobody knew about it, and they actively deceived these people. There was no consent obtained for and from anybody.”

It’s said that many of these experiments were sponsored by big name health companies like; Public Health Service, the National Institute of Health, and even the Guatemalan government.

11. Immunity To “Monster Surgeon” Shiro Ishii

Yet another strange thing that happened during WWII that had to do with the US. The US basically condoned the testing of human experimentation, no matter how gruesome, to further the research of biological warfare. The US decided to grant immunity to the one known as the “monster surgeon”  Dr. Shiro Ishii. Shiro was responsible for the most grotesque human experimentation, with having almost every test subject opened up without any anesthetic.

It’s not like the US was directly involved with the doctors acts, and didn’t even command him to do any of what he did, but the fact they granted him immunity shows the US had their priorities out of line. The US held the doctors research in high regard for the advancement of these types of weapons.

10. Infecting Prisoners

via: blogspot.com

San Quentin prison had a surgeon named Dr. Leo Stanley. He preformed many experiments on inmates there, without their consent, and many of his experiments involved testicular implants. Stanley believed if he was successful this would change the behavior of the dangerous inmates, and even rejuvenate older people.

The worst result was Stanley believed it would prevent the men in prison from reproducing, because he determined they weren’t fit to be parents. It gets worse, as he began to implant the testicles of other animals like goats, and boars into the inmates. When the implants ended up failing, he would liquidize the testicles of the animals, and simply inject them straight into the prisoners.

9. Infecting Puerto Rico with Cancer

via: anotechmag.com

It was discovered that under the Rockefeller Institute doctors were infecting Puerto Ricans with cancer to study it’s effects on the human body. This was discovered in the 1930’s, and the head doctor had this to say about the claims against him;

“The Porto Ricans (sic) are the dirtiest, laziest, most degenerate and thievish race of men ever to inhabit this sphere… I have done my best to further the process of extermination by killing off eight and transplanting cancer into several more… All physicians take delight in the abuse and torture of the unfortunate subjects.”

After these offensive comments were made public the doctor immediately tried to pass it off as a joke. The US government decided to protect the doctor, and performed a white washing campaign, and the statements were lied to rest for a few years until 2002. After the ACCR committed to bringing justice to the doctor’s actions, they couldn’t find anything due to the smearing of his name by the government. The best they could do is resurface his statement, and bring shame to his name.

8. Operation Midnight Climax

via: fdncms.com

A sub project under MKUltra called Operation Midnight Climax was also a mind control experimentation that began in the 60’s. The project was very covert, and was run inside of safe houses located in New York. The participants in the study were lured in by prostitutes, much like with the Guatemalan STD studies, and given substances like LSD without their consent.

Different techniques, some of which are still in operation today, were developed through this program. Some of these include; blackmail through sex, surveillance cameras, and the use of drugs that altered the mind. The operation came to a close in 1966, and the results of the experimentation are not known. Not much else is known about the operation, since it was kept so hidden from the public.

7. Operation Paperclip That Recruited Nazi Scientists

Via: New York Post

Operation Paperclip was one of the most controversial things that came out of WWII. The US hired, and payed over 1,500 german scientists, engineers, and doctors, many of which were members of the Nazi party. The main purpose of the operation was for the US to get aid from the German intelligence in helping with the ongoing Cold War, along with efforts to speed up the US’s involvement in the space race.

The Soviet Union was also known to have recruited German scientists, but a tad more forcefully. The newly hired german scientists would aid in the post war research methods, as WWIII seemed to be something of high possibility after the second World War. The operation was conducted in south Germany, and the US wanted to keep the whole situation away from the public, as the Germans were a huge enemy in the war that just ended.

6. Atomic Bomb Testing

Before the US dropped the atomic bomb on Hiroshima, and Nagasaki it was testing the effects of the bomb. When the Manhattan Project was being conducted, 18 unsuspecting citizens were harmed due to plutonium injections. A few of these illegal experiments were conducted in Tennessee, where soldiers would be injected with very little plutonium, but enough to still kill three of those men.

Plutonium wasn’t the only thing these researchers were testing, they were also conducting experiments with uranium. The leader of the Manhattan Project, Dr. William Sweet was claimed to have injected 11 people with uranium. It was then confirmed that he kept the dead tissue of the victims for research in discovering the effects the bombs would have in war.

5. Holmesburg Program Conducted Secret Experiments On Prisoners

via: ibtimes.co.uk

Albert Kligman a professor at the University of Pennsylvania, was hired by The Dow Chemical Company, The US Army, and even Johnson and Johnson to conduct experiments on over 300 inmates at the Holmesburg Prison. The experiments included rubbing a substance known as Agent Orange. This substance was injected into the prisoners, and also rubbed on their skin.

Initially the Agent Orange substance was not returning the wanted results, so the professor upped the dosage. He upped it so much that it was over 400 times the amount he was hired to give to the prisoners by the Dow Chemical Company. This overdose of the agent caused psychological issues, and permanent skin conditions to the prisoners. The substance was later used in Vietnam, and it’s effects are still affecting some to this day.

4. NSA – A Program Created To Spy On Just About Everyone

via: amazonaws.com

The NSA is an agency under the Department of Defense, and is responsible for global monitoring of all informations. The NSA has come down with a lot of heat recently for their mysterious ways of collecting information, and monitoring people. This has caused many conspiracy theorists, to deduce that the government is collecting information, so that nobody is free.

This idea is a tad farfetched, but it’s no surprise that many US citizens are concerned with their privacy. The NSA is there to protect us, but when does it become a problem? The techniques used by the NSA are unorthodox, and can lead many to feel as if they’re collecting information for something much more sinister…

3. Tuskegee – Racist Syphilis Experiment On African Americans

via:ytimg.com

The Tuskegee syphilis experiments were conducted during the Great Depression, and focused on the effects of untreated syphilis disease. The men who were participating in the experiment were believed to have their blood disease cured, when in reality they were being injected with a much worse disease. The experiment saw 600 men from Alabama being chosen for the injections.

When penicillin came out to be a cure for syphilis none of the participating members were given it. Then president Bill Clinton issued an apology to those harmed in the experiments, and it reads;

“What was done cannot be undone. But we can end the silence. We can stop turning our heads away. We can look at you in the eye and finally say on behalf of the American people, what the United States government did was shameful, and I am sorry… To our African American citizens, I am sorry that your federal government orchestrated a study so clearly racist.”

2. Bomb Fallout

via: primalsurvivor.net

In the 40’s through the 60’s nuclear bomb testing was prominent off the coast of the US. Sightings form the Marshall islands in the Pacific ocean confirmed that the US was indeed testing their nuclear warfare tactics near the US. This area was referred to as the Pacific Proving Grounds.

Fallout from bombs refers to the aftermath of which the bomb produces. After the dust settles the effect of a nuclear bomb can still effect people in the surrounding areas. This is exactly what happened to the residents of the nearby islands near the Pacific Proving Grounds. This fallout caused birth defects, radiation sickness, and cancer. This caused many people to relocate from the islands, and move more inward.

1. Harsh Radiation Treatment

via: worldnow.com

In the 1960’s it came out that the Department of Defense was conducting full body radiation experiments on non-consenting african americans. The experiments were conducted to test what high levels of radiation would do to the human body. The Department of Defense tricked it’s patients into thinking they were receiving normal amounts of radiation for their cancer.

One of the doctors was afraid of being exposed for these immoral actions, and started to record the patient’s names as solely their initials. The doctor stated in his own words;

“there will be no means by which the patients can ever connect themselves up with the report.”

It came out later that many of the consent forms for these unsuspecting patients were forged. The radiation levels would destroy the insides of their bodies, causing vomiting, and internal organ issues.
