Pictures are taken everyday to capture people’s memories of special events. What if the pictures taken have strange things lurking in the background. This is a more common phenomenon than people may think. This is even more true with the increase of the ability to take a photo anywhere, anytime. Some of these pictures date back to when cameras were first invented, and some are taken with the latest smartphone.

These photos feature some things you wouldn’t expect. A picture of a little girl’s birthday party features a very angry demon lurking in the background. A forest shows living proof of a gnome. These photos are taken everyday, and it’s usually not realized until the person who took the pictures looks through them after the fact. This makes things even more creepy knowing that there was a strange creature present when the photo was taken, and they had no knowledge of it.

If you have a box of old photos, you may want to go through them. You could even just go through the camera roll on your smartphone. You may find something truly creepy lying in the background of your favorite selfie…

15. Bus Accident

In 2005, an overflowed UUM bus was overturned due to the weight of people inside. The bus toppled over into an adjacent river. Several people were injured, and some were taken off to a nearby hospital for treatment. The bus was carrying twenty more people than the legal limit. During the investigation, a reporter took a picture of the accident. The picture seems normal, but if you zoom in to the left side of the photo, you can find something disturbing.

The creature can be seen under the bridge right next to the accident. It looks like some sort of lake monster, or even a ghost of some sort. It has very distinguishable facial features, and seems to be smiling at the camera, as if it knew its picture was being taken. It is said that the people in the area claim to see these types of creatures when tragedy strikes, and sometimes they are the cause of the tragedy. Nobody on the scene claimed to see the demon, and it was only seen after the fact.

14. Ghost in the TV

A grandmother was taking a picture of her grandson one morning as he was getting dressed for school. According to the woman, the television didn’t operate anymore, and it couldn’t even turn on. She claimed they left it there as a placeholder, until they could get a new one. That being said, if you look at the TV you’ll realize something is happening on it.

An image of a man who is leaning over a backseat can be seen, and it looks as if he’s looking directly at her grandson. The grandmother claims that a couple of years before the picture was taken, her daughter bought the place, and the son wouldn’t sleep in his bedroom, because there was a man who wouldn’t leave him alone. The grandmother brought the picture to her daughter, and asked if she knew anything about it. The daughter believes the picture was taken in her car, but doesn’t know anything about the man.

13. Disembodied Head

This photo’s origins are a little shaky. The photo has been claimed by several different people with several different backstories. One woman said the photo was taken of her husband, and when she took it, the head was not present. Another woman claimed this was a picture taken in the home where her husband’s mother shot herself.

Paranormal investigators have debunked this as being a spirit, since the head isn’t opaque. This means it could be a prop or a friend playing a prank on the cameraman. This is still disturbing as the face is grinning. The only way this wouldn’t be creepy is if someone owned up to pulling a prank, but no one has confirmed the image as being fake…

12. Ghost Child Playing Hide and Seek

This photo has a backstory behind it. The child you see in the bottom right corner kept crying, and was complaining about a small boy who kept scaring her, and claimed he wasn’t being nice. Her mom didn’t take her claims too seriously since she was the only child there, and they took the pictures anyway.

Looking back through the photos, it could prove that the kid was right all along. Between two of the girl’s legs, a small face of a boy can be seen. The boy apparently wasn’t in any other pictures taken. The owners of the house claim to have never had paranormal activity at the house where this picture was taken. It looks like the little girl has a new playmate who won’t be leaving anytime soon…

11. Pub Ghost

A well-known bar in England is known to have a friendly ghost that haunts it. The ghost is of a barman who used to work there, and he attempts to make his presence known whenever possible. The photo was taken during a special event at the pub. There were a lot of people at the pub at the time, and this picture was taken of the cameraman’s friend. The photo was captured using an iPhone.

Reviewing the photos reveals a face in the background of the picture. The face is clearly not connected to a body, and seems to just be floating there. This is most likely the spirit of the friendly bartender ghost. He wanted to join in on the fun of the event. The picture is still disturbing, even with a cheerful backstory.

10. Extra Hand

This picture was taken when a mother and her son shared a bath together. It seems like a cute photo, until something strange is seen around the mother’s shoulder. A mystery hand is present, almost as if there’s another person behind the two off camera. However, this isn’t the case as the mother claims that nobody else was even in the house.

The mom believes that the hand could belong to a woman who used to own the house. It’s said that she took her own life. This happened over a century ago, and the mom didn’t find this out until after the photo was taken, while doing research on her home. The woman who died, apparently had a miscarriage, and couldn’t live with the grief. The creepiest part is that the woman drowned herself in a bathtub…

9. Party Crasher

This photo is of a child on her birthday. She is having her picture taken by her father. When the dad uploaded the picture he stated that she was an only child, and that they were the only ones in the house at that time, since the picture was taken in the morning before guests started to arrive to the party.

If you look to the left of the little girl, you can see what appears to be another child with face paint running towards the girl. After brightening the image, it reveals a terrifying face. The face appears to be white, and looks to be angry. People believe it is an angry spirit that attacked the girl soon after the picture was taken…

8. Pirate House Ghost

There is a restaurant in Savannah Georgia called the Pirate House, and it’s known for its hauntings. The restaurant is old, and it’s said that it was a frequent spot for pirates. A woman submitted this photo during a vacation in Georgia. She took a picture of her son, and a strange figure can be seen in the background. The room the figure is standing in is supposedly off limits, and was completely empty the entire time they were there.

The woman snapped more photos of her son during the visit, but the figure can’t be seen in any of them. Several paranormal experts tried to enhance the brightness on the photo, but the figure remained black, and soulless…

7. Snapchat Selfie Gone Wrong

This isn’t your typical everyday photo bomb, and it’s not even the one they were referencing in the photo. A woman was taking pictures with her nephew, while her sister was photo bombing in the back. However, they weren’t the only ones in the room at the time. If you look between the woman, and the child, you can see a small girl. You can only see her bottom half, and it appears that she is sitting.

The woman claims that they were the only ones present in the room at the time. She also said that nothing strange happened the day they took the photo. That is until after they took the photo. She started to hear and see strange things in her living room, the same room the picture was taken…

6. House Fire Ghost

A couple of photos were taken of a house that caught fire. The photo was taken by men who were working nearby when they noticed the old abandoned house catching fire. It turned out the place was old. Therefore, the local fire department decided to have a controlled fire on the premises. The spectators began to watch the fire burn the old house down, and decided to take a few pictures.

Enhancing the second image will reveal what appears to be a mother and her child. The mother appears to be holding her child, comforting it, while the child looks at the firemen across the street. It’s reported that the two were not on the scene, and nobody was near the house during the fire.

5. Ghosts in the Park

A man took his family to a local park and began to snap photos. He realized something strange was lurking in the background. The photo reveals two spirits in the background of the picture. Both of the figures are gray, which contrasts with the otherwise colorful photo. It’s believed the two spirits are wearing chainmail, and it’s worth mentioning this was shot near an old castle.

The figures were not visible, and the only other person there was the man in the red sweatshirt to the right of the figures. The figures didn’t appear in any of the other photos taken before and after this one was. The spirits look to be arguing over something, and one of them looks like it’s holding a white shield. Whatever this is, it’s strange that they would show themselves during the day…

4. Gnome in the Woods

This photo doesn’t have much backstory to it. The person who took the photo noticed something strange hiding in the woods in the back. It looks like a small man with a beard.  This is however most likely a trick of the shadows of the trees. It’s hard to even make out the supposed gnome in the first place, and it seems like a stretch. However, there is a story that follows the photo.

A couple was hiking through the mountains when they kept getting interrupted by an unseen force. It led them off the path, and the couple took several photos of the supposed gnomes. It’s said that this is the only photo that survived, and the rest can’t be found. The couple supposedly made it out of the forest alive. The story holds up with the characteristic of a gnome playing tricks on people, especially people who invade their homes; typically hikers…

3. Foggy Bridge

This picture was taken of a group during a tour in China. It’s supposed to encompass the group, and the fact that they visited the bridge, but something can be seen in the background. The cameraman didn’t know what he was getting himself into when he began taking pictures. The first picture taken looks as if someone is getting ready to jump off the bridge.

The cameraman began to take more pictures, and actually caught someone after they jumped. The person was mid fall. However, there were two people who jumped that day. The man didn’t capture the first person jumping, but claimed to hear the body hit the water below. Then a woman appeared to leap as well. It’s assumed the two were a couple, and wanted to end their lives together. The cameraman reported feeling stunned at what he just captured.

2. The Man Living Under the Couch

This photo was taken of a family, which we can assume was on a timer since it appears the whole family is in the shot. The photo seems normal until you see another face staring back at you. If you look underneath the mother in the picture, you can see a man’s face staring back. The man looks to be in pain, and we can only see his eyes, and a bit of his forehead.

This is most likely a joke that one of the family members played, and tried to make the family photo a bit more funny. However, there is a much more gruesome theory. It is thought that this is someone who has been kidnapped by the family. It’s also theorized that it was a family member who was shunned away from the group picture, or even worse it could be a ghost of a previous owner of the house. Whatever it is, the picture is truly disturbing, no matter the backstory…

1. Girls’ Night In

Not much is known about the origin of this photo. The photo is of five women who are taking a bath together. It was most likely taken after a night of partying, and they’re letting off some steam. If you look closely enough at the window behind them, you can see a sixth member. A handprint with a indistinguishable face can be seen peering in at the women. This could of course be a joke that they’re all in on, but it goes further than that.

The face doesn’t seem to have any detail to it, and looks like a white canvas absent of facial features. It has been theorized that the figure is a ghost. This could be likely due to the lack of facial features. It’s also been theorized to be a stalker or e a serial killer stalking its prey. Whatever the case, these girls should put the blinds down next time.
